HRHCare Dental Practice Manager Wins Planetree Award for Innovation in Patient Care

dgPeekskill, NY – HRHCare (Hudson River HealthCare, Inc.), a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center offering a range of medical services for underserved communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island, is proud to announce that Dental Practice Manager Danielle Grundig, RDH, will be presented with a Planetree Award for Innovation in Patient Care. This award is presented by the HRHCare Planetree Institute to exemplary employees who find new ways to advocate for patients and create innovative ways for them to access high quality and affordable health care.

The Dental Practice Manager and Hygienist at the HRHCare Health Center at Beacon, Danielle Grundig has been part of the HRHCare family since she was a teenager when she worked as a dental sterilization assistant at the Health Center at Peekskill. After obtaining her Dental Hygiene Degree from the University of Bridgeport and experience working in private practice, Danielle chose to return to her public health roots and came back to HRHCare as a dental hygienist in 2001. Known for her vast knowledge, compassionate nature and cultural sensitivity, Danielle’s innovative spirit truly became apparent when she began providing dental care for students through the Dover Plains School-Based Health Centers (SBHC). Since its beginning in 2013, this HRHCare school-based preventive dental care program has grown dramatically under Danielle’s leadership and has provided hundreds of dental exams, cleanings and opportunities for students and their families to receive information on HRHCare’s dental care services. Receiving commendations from the Superintendent of the Dover Union Free School District as well as from our own Chief Dental Officer Dr. Clifford Hames, Danielle has also presented on innovation in dental care at Westchester Dental Hygiene Association meetings and at Orange County Community College. Danielle is highly involved in pancreatic cancer awareness and is a supporter of the Ronald McDonald House charity. In her spare time, she is an avid snowboarder, skier and enjoys riding motocross and ATVs.

“I believe that as employees of HRHCare we strive to meet the goals of our mission by providing access to quality care for the patients we serve,” said Danielle. “It is important that we continue to partner with our communities as much as possible.”
