HRHCare Doctor Sr. Katherine Seibert to Receive Thomas A. Dooley Award from Notre Dame University

Monticello, NY – HRHCare Community Health is proud to announce that Sr. Katherine Seibert, MD, a physician at the HRHCare health centers in Monticello and Goshen, will receive the 2018 Thomas A. Dooley Award from her alma mater, the University of Notre Dame. This award, presented by the Notre Dame Alumni Association, honors individuals who, through their faith-based background, have demonstrated personal courage, compassion, and commitment to advance human and civil rights.

“Sr. Seibert is incredibly deserving of this honor, and we feel so fortunate to have such a dedicated physician on our team,” said HRHCare President and CEO Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH. “We congratulate her on this award for her extraordinary service, and thank her for the compassionate care she tirelessly delivers to our patients.”

Sr. Seibert, a Sister of Charity of New York for nearly 60 years, completed an MS in biology and PhD in microbiology at the University of Notre Dame, and received her MD from the Creighton University School of Medicine in Nebraska. She later completed a fellowship in oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Maryland, and went on to serve as Chief of Oncology at several New York City hospitals. Sr. Seibert relocated to Sullivan County in the early 1990s, where, as the only oncologist in the county at the time, she developed an oncology program. She joined the HRHCare physician teams in Monticello and Goshen in 2005.

Sr. Seibert has received several other honors, including being named “Person of the Year” by the Notre Dame Club of New York, the American Cancer Society’s Lane Adams Award, and being given the title of “Local Legend” as part of the Celebration of America’s Physicians.

Sr. Seibert will receive the Thomas A. Dooley Award during the Notre Dame Alumni Association Spring Board of Directors’ Meeting on Wednesday, April 18th at the university’s Morris Inn.
