HRHCare Nurse Manager Receives Planetree Award for Excellence in Patient Care

HRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that Krista Miller, RN, the nurse manager of the HRHCare northern region health centers in Amenia, Dover Plains, Pine Plains, and Hudson, has been awarded the March 2017 Planetree Spirit Award for Excellence in Patient Care. The HRHCare Planetree Institute presents these awards to exemplary employees who work to make health care more personalized and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.

Krista Miller has been serving HRHCare patients for a little over a year now, after working as a critical care cardiac and stroke nurse leader at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany and a corrections nurse at a maximum security correctional facility. In her year with the organization, Ms. Miller has been a true leader in many ways; encouraging her fellow staff to go above and beyond in patient care, and also helping to spearhead many fundraising events. She has assisted in raising funds for a terminally ill Amenia patient in need of aid, helped organize Thanksgiving and Christmas food basket collections, and co-organized free “Nourish Your Neighbor” community dinners throughout Eastern Dutchess. These dinners are free to all diners who bring along a non-perishable food item to donate to local families in need. She is also known for remaining in contact with a large pool of patients throughout her region, ensuring smooth and successful provider transitions for them when necessary.

“Krista has demonstrated her strong commitment to the mission of HRHCare,” said Alicia Williams, HR Regional Representative at HRHCare. “She is quick to respond to any situation that may cause a barrier to our patients receiving the health care they need. She is a true example of what HRHCare stands for, and a model for providing patient-centered care.”

When asked about what HRHCare means to her, Ms. Miller replied, “The amount of compassion and empathy that HRHCare has for employees and patients is wonderful. There are so many opportunities available for staff to grow in their roles here, and everyone is dedicated to our mission of providing safe and high-quality care for all.” In addition to her health care career, Ms. Miller and her family are also farmers, mainly focused on raising goats. She regularly donates eggs from her own chickens to local families in need, and also volunteers with her local FFA chapter and her daughter’s girl scout troop.
