HRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that Jermaine Sooknanan, a Licensed Practical Nurse at HRHCare Yonkers, the Valentine Lane Health Center, has been awarded the June 2017 HRHCare Planetree Spirit Award for Excellence in Patient Care. The HRHCare Planetree Institute presents these awards to exemplary employees who work to make health care more personalized, and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.
An HRHCare employee for five years this August, Jermaine Sooknanan became an LPN after spending eight years providing investment services for corporate executives worldwide at a financial services firm in Tarrytown, NY. In his more recent role in the health care field, Jermaine has proven to be an outstanding nurse, dedicated to the HRHCare practice and the patients he serves. He has been lauded by patients and colleagues alike for his ability to help others when they are facing a difficulty. On many occasions, Jermaine has taken the time to sit with an upset patient and gently listen, helping them to feel heard and respected so that further conflict or distress is avoided. “I feel the most important factors a patient needs from their health care provider are listening and understanding,” said Jermaine.
“Jermaine is an outstanding nurse who is dedicated to our patients and our practice,” said Daniel Miller, MD, HRHCare Chief of Clinical Integration and Graduate Medical Training. “My patients frequently tell me how helpful they find him.”
In addition to his service at HRHCare as an LPN, Jermaine has donated his time and resources to multiple charitable programs within the organization and in his community. In his free time, he enjoys playing sports, including baseball, basketball, and bowling, and traveling when he has the chance. Jermaine studied finance at Pace University, and obtained his LPN from Lincoln Technical Institute. He is currently pursuing his BSN.
