Migrant Health Coordinator, NE Region and Puerto Rico
The Northeast Migrant Health Coordinator is a resource person for Community and Migrant Health Centers,
Migrant Voucher Programs, and other farmworker health prgrams in Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Ohio, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The Coordinator's responsibilities include:
- Stimulating the creation of the new health access points and the expansion of medical capacity and services for farmworkers
- Assisting with local and regional needs assessments and strategic planning to serve farmworkers
- Organizing training and providing technical assistance on farmworker issues
- Providing information, relevant data and research, and other resources to farmworker health programs
- Assisting with the planning and development of programs and services such as outreach, lay health promotion, cultural compentency, and language access
- Serving as an advocate by promoting state and federal policies that support the increase of health care access
and reduction of health disparities among farmworkers and their families.
- Public speaking and education about farmworker health
