HRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that Tiffany Richards, LPN, a nurse at the HRHCare health centers in Spring Valley and Haverstraw, has been awarded the February 2017 Planetree Spirit Award for Excellence in Patient Care. The HRHCare Planetree Institute presents these awards to exemplary employees who work to make health care more personalized and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.
Tiffany Richards has been serving HRHCare patients for over two years, after time spent working as an LPN at Planned Parenthood. In her short time with the organization, she has already taken on a critical role in supporting the training of new nurses and volunteering to cover at both the Spring Valley and Haverstraw health centers when either is short-staffed. Last year, she participated in a video project to help HRHCare clinical team members to master the teach-back method to ensure their patients understand the important instructions they are being given about their health management. Additionally, she has worked tirelessly as a champion of the ‘Spring Valley Cancer Screening Days’ and other initiatives to help improve the health of the community.
“Tiffany consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and colleagues at our Spring Valley and Haverstraw health centers,” said Farrah Fils-Aimé, RN, Nurse Manager at both HRHCare Spring Valley and Haverstraw. “Her strong leadership skills and take charge attitude are a winning combination that make a significant contribution to the health of Rockland County.”
A graduate of Rockland BOCES with an additional academic award for clinical excellence in nursing from Dominican College, Ms. Richards’ passion for patient-centered care is obvious in everything she does. When asked about what she thinks patients need most from their health care provider, she replied, “Patience, empathy, and access. It is important that they know their health care team is always there for them. HRHCare is one, big, life-changing family that puts the needs of our patients first!” In her spare time, Ms. Richards loves to dance, and, after recently announcing her engagement, is spending most of her free time planning for her big day!
