HRHCare Community HealthCorps Celebrates AmeriCorps Week

zumbaThis week marks AmeriCorps Week, and the HRHCare Community HealthCorps have many exciting activities to engage their local communities in store! AmeriCorps Week is celebrated each year as a time to salute AmeriCorps members and alumni for their service, thank community partners, and communicate the incredible mission of the AmeriCorps program. With twenty Community HealthCorps currently serving at HRHCare, we are proud to recognize the incredible impact they have on our communities and the lives of our patients.

To kick off AmeriCorps Week 2016 with ‘Get Fit Monday’, HRHCare Community HealthCorps member Maria Aloe offered a free Zumba class at North East Community Center in Millerton, NY. Passionate about this fun and engaging form of exercise and a certified Zumba instructor, she regularly teaches a shorter version of this class as part of the After School Connections program at Millerton Elementary School. As the week progresses our AmeriCorps will be partnering with Habitat for Humanity in Newburgh to assist with a building project, attending and serving the migrant farmworker population on the North Fork of Long Island at the second HRHCare Day of Health, and the regular schedule of programs including prenatal classes and Moms’ Groups.
