Peekskill, NY – HRHCare (Hudson River HealthCare), a nonprofit, federally qualified health care system offering a range of medical services for underserved communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island, is proud to announce that OB/GYN Nurse Cheryl Chambers will be presented with a Planetree Award for excellence in patient care. HRHCare’s Planetree Institute presents these awards to employees who go above and beyond to make health care more personalized and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.

As a registered nurse at one of HRHCare’s newest sites, the Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center in Wyandanch, Chambers came to HRHCare after serving as a Prenatal Coordinator with Good Samaritan Hospital under the auspices of the Suffolk County Department of Health. In her few months with HRHCare she has already brought an invaluable wealth of knowledge and professionalism to the job as well as a sense of warmth and respect for her patients and fellow employees. “Do things the proper way the first time, and treat others the way you would like to be treated,” said Chambers when asked about her personal motto. “Be respectful of everyone, regardless of whom they are or where they come from. There is no price on kindness.” In her free time Chambers enjoys staying fit, meditating and listening to music; “Everything from Reggae to Mozart.”

“Cheryl Chambers makes patient care her top priority,” said Carol Hicks, Nurse Manager at the HRHCare Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center in Wyandanch. “She consistently shows deep concern for all of her patients, delivering care in an empathetic and non-biased way. She serves everyone with the utmost dignity, and we are so proud to have her along.”

Planetree is the global leader in advancing patient-centered care solutions, integrating the technology of modern medicine with the healing dimensions of compassion, comfortable surroundings, shared knowledge and freedom to make educated choices. HRHCare has been an affiliate since 1996 and remains the only Federally Qualified Health Center to be a part of this alliance. The HRHCare Planetree Institute was established in 2012 and provides state-of-the-art training to prepare staff in delivering passionate and personalized care. The HRHCare Planetree Award honors employees who have been nominated by their colleagues for going above and beyond to provide individualized patient care and enhance health care services in their respective facility.
