HRHCare Offers Free Living Healthy with Diabetes Course in Copiague

Healthy Choices NYAmityville, NY – HRHCare (Hudson River HealthCare), a nonprofit, Federally Qualified Health Center offering a range of medical services for underserved communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island, is offering a free six-week Healthy Choices NY workshop series entitled Living Healthy with Diabetes beginning June 2nd at Bethel AME Church in Copiague, NY. This workshop series, peer-led by Donna Moodie and Judy Clarke, is designed to help individuals living with diabetes and their loved ones live a full and healthy life.

A range of diabetes-related topics will be discussed, including better food and exercise choices; understanding new treatment options; making step-by-step plans to improve your life; practical ways to deal with sick days; foot care; dealing with medicine and pain; and talking with loved ones and providers about your health. All participants will receive materials during the series, including a relaxation CD, and will have the chance to win a gift card at each workshop attended. Participants are also encouraged to bring along a snack and water.

This free Living Healthy with Diabetes workshop series will be held each Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall of Bethel AME Church, 20 Simmons Street in Copiague, NY. The dates are June 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th and July 7th.
