HRHCare Receives Highest Amount from Federal Grant to NY Community Health Centers

Peekskill, NY – HRHCare (Hudson River HealthCare), a nonprofit, federally qualified health care system offering a range of medical services for underserved communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island, has received funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as part of $6.3 million granted to community health centers throughout New York State. Receiving $594,692, HRHCare was granted the highest amount out of the 23 health centers funded. This grant will allow HRHCare and other community health centers throughout the state to increase access to health and primary care services for residents as well as hire more local health care providers to meet the increasing demand.

“We are delighted that HRHCare has received these funds that will be put to good use; expanding access to essential health care services,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH, President and CEO of HRHCare. “On behalf of all of our patients and staff, we are most grateful to our Federal Representatives and Senators who support the work of community health centers throughout New York State and our country. They know that our patients need these health care services.

“This is a major investment for upstate New York,” said Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. “Quality health care must be accessible throughout our communities. This grant will help local health care centers throughout the state meet the need for services and provide families with better care.”

This grant will enable the 23 community health centers chosen to increase access to comprehensive primary care, hire new staff, stay open for longer hours and expand the care they provide. At a time when the demand for primary care is at an all-time high, these funds will enable care for over 82,000 new patients across New York State.
