Yonkers, NY – HRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that Carmen Vazquez, Nurse Manager at the HRHCare Valentine Lane Health Center at Yonkers, has been awarded the June 2016 Planetree Spirit Award for Excellence in Patient Care. The HRHCare Planetree Institute presents these awards to employees who go above and beyond to make health care more personalized and create a warm and welcoming environment for all.
Carmen Vazquez has been part of the Valentine Lane Health Center family for the past eleven years, staying with the team through the merge with HRHCare eight years ago. Incredibly dedicated to her fellow staff and patients at the Health Center, Carmen stepped up to the plate and took on an additional managerial role when she was most needed. Although this type of role was new to her, she instinctively exhibited great leadership skills and was incredibly supportive of the staff and generous with her time. Her grace and thoughtfulness eased any staff anxiety and ensured a continuous patient-centered focus for everyone at the Health Center. When asked what she felt separated HRHCare from other health care providers, Carmen responded, “The commitment to patient-centered care that ensures the complete well-being of all of our patients and staff, who are the most important asset of HRHCare. The compassion, work ethic and dedication they bring every day to carry out our mission is exemplary. It is a pleasure to work with such a group!”
“Carmen’s manner exemplifies the Planetree Spirit,” said Mirian Romero, Clinical Assistant at the HRHCare Valentine Lane Health Center at Yonkers. “She goes above and beyond when needed, and the whole team can count on her all of the time.”
A nurse for 20 years, Carmen has served patients through the Montefiore, Beth Israel and New York Presbyterian health systems before coming to HRHCare. In her spare time she loves to “de-stress and re-energize” by cooking and tending her garden. She also volunteers her time to coordinate food, coat and toy drives for the patients most in need at her Health Center.
