Scrubs Club Wins NYS Rural Health Award

scrub-clubHRHCare is pleased to announce that Scrubs Club, a program to teach high school students about various health occupations as viable future career options, has received the Rural Health Program of the Year Award from the New York State Association for Rural Health. This program is sponsored by the Eastern Dutchess Rural Health Network, of which HRHCare is the lead agency, and the Mid-Hudson Area Health Education Center. The award was presented in Clayton, NY, during a luncheon which brought together representatives from rural health networks and providers statewide.

The engaging lesson plans, field-trips, and hands-on activities in Scrubs Club enable the students to “test drive” various health occupations. Participants are able to get up-close learning opportunities through on-site hospital tours, simulation lab visits, and related exhibitions. The versatility of the lesson plans enables instructors to incorporate the program into a daily class curriculum, an after-school activity, or apply it to a longitudinal program.
