Hudson River Healthcare Officially Breaks Ground for
State-of-the-Art Health Center at Southampton Hospital

Peekskill, NY (October 08, 2013) – Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) recently broke ground at the official construction site for the Kraus Family Health Center of the Hamptons at Southampton Hospital, in an effort to provide the more than 3,500 residents of Long Island’s east end with comprehensive primary and preventative medical, dental and mental health care, especially for the underserved and the vulnerable. Executives from HRHCare were joined by several elected officials, as well as executives from its partners in developing the facility, Stony Brook Medical Center and Southampton Hospital, to celebrate this milestone for Suffolk County.

“Our partnerships, like the ones we are building with Southampton Hospital, Stony Brook University Hospital, and Suffolk County are based on a single unifying commitment – to expand primary and preventative care for the community,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH, President and CEO of HRHCare. “We want to thank everyone involved for their commitment and passion to expanding the delivery of care to this incredible community.”

“This new health center will be a great step forward in providing our community with improved health care including expanded hours of service and new dental and behavioral health services,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “This is a unique public/private partnership to deliver the best healthcare possible to Suffolk County residents at a lower cost to tax payers, and we look forward to expanding that partnership here and beyond.”

“This extraordinary new clinic represents a major expansion of rural health care here on the east end,” said Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman. “Southampton Hospital, Stony Brook University Medical Center and HRHCare have done a tremendous job in creating access to affordable health services for our residents.”

The new 9,000 square foot facility is expected to be fully operational in early 2014, and will feature new programs including a family practice, women’s health services and dental services. The health center will also serve as a family residency program, which is a unique collaborative effort between HRHCare, Southampton Hospital and Stony Brook University Medical Center.
