HRHCare Assumes Leadership of Three Suffolk County Community Health Centers

Peekskill, NY – HRHCare (Hudson River HealthCare), a nonprofit, federally qualified health care system offering a range of medical services for underserved communities throughout the Hudson Valley and Long Island, has recently assumed leadership of three community health centers in Suffolk County. In September HRHCare assumed leadership of the Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center in Wyandanch, followed by the Marilyn Shellabarger Health Center in Shirley and the Health Center at Patchogue in early November. HRHCare employees from both the Hudson Valley and Long Island were joined by several volunteers from Stony Brook University to assist in the transition process and help with patient registration at the new health center sites.

“We are very excited to expand HRHCare’s primary care services to the residents of Wyandanch, Shirley and Patchogue,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH, President and CEO of HRHCare. “Suffolk County has done exemplary work providing affordable health services to these communities, and we look forward to furthering their efforts by adding new programs and establishing a means to make health care more affordable.”

HRHCare, which now operates 7 facilities in Suffolk County, has quickly established its unique holistic approach to health care, accommodating the financial, linguistic and scheduling needs of patients. Accepting most forms of insurance carriers as well as Medicare and Medicaid, HRHCare also uses a sliding scale co-pay system based on income to make it more affordable for patients to receive necessary health care services. Reaching upwards of an estimated 23,000 new patients, HRHCare will introduce dental care at Wyandanch and Shirley and expanded behavioral health care services at all 3 sites in 2015.
