HRHCare Black History Month Celebration

RMOn Wednesday, February 18th, HRHCare will celebrate Black History Month with an exhibition of the work of artist Richard Mubiru in the Founders Room of the Health Center at Peekskill. Join the Reverend Jeannette Phillips, HRHCare Founding Mother and Executive Vice President, for refreshments between 6 and 8 PM as she speaks to the importance of Black History Month and introduces Enyinnaya Ogbuagu who will present Richard Mubiru’s work. A graduate of the Institute of Art and Design in Pretoria, Richard Mubiru vividly captures the energy of the landscape and people from the wine lands in his native South Africa. He is currently in residence at the African Art Gallery of Stellenbosch in Cape Town.

The following afternoon a second reception will take place in the Founders Room featuring a presentation by artist Carole Robinson whose quilts inspired by the Underground Railroad are currently on display at the H-Art Gallery in Peekskill. She will be joined by LaFern Joseph who will speak to the importance of Peekskill as part of the Underground Railroad, helping to lead many enslaved men and women to freedom. The reception on Thursday, February 19th, will last between 12 and 2 PM.
