Hudson River Health Care Awarded Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Grant

YONKERS, NY – Hudson River Health Care (HRHCare) has been awarded a $1M grant from the Family and Youth Services Bureau’s Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Program. HRHCare will use these funds over a five-year period to launch a comprehensive SRAE initiative in Yonkers, targeting low-income youth through after-school and community-based summer programming. Through the Making a Difference! initiative, HRHCare will deliver medically-accurate, evidence-based programming to provide young people with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV, and teen pregnancy. New York State Legislature Honors Rev. Jeannette J. Phillips, Founding Mother of Hudson River Health Care

Albany, NY – Reverend Jeanette J. Phillips, one of Hudson River Health Care’s Founding Mothers, was honored by the New York Legislature today in the State Capital. Assemblywoman Sandra Galef sponsored a resolution in the Assembly, and Senators Jen Metzger and Peter Harckham sponsored a proclamation in the Senate to recognize Rev. Free Narcan Training in Peekskill

HRHCare will be offering a free Narcan (Naloxone) training session on Saturday, March 30 at The Field Library in Peekskill. Narcan is the life-saving antidote to opioid overdose. Participants will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose, how to respond to an overdose, Narcan administration, the benefits of New York’s 911 Good Samaritan Law, and the importance of calling emergency medical services.
