Health Center at Beacon Presented with Planetree Community Spirit Award

Beacon StaffHRHCare Community Health is pleased to announce that the Health Center at Beacon has been presented with a Planetree Community Spirit Award. The HRHCare Planetree Institute presents these awards to a team, department or site that connects and impacts the local community in an exceptional way.
Over the past several months, the HRHCare Health Center at Beacon has undertaken a number of incredible initiatives to further benefit the community beyond their normal scope of health care services. In September the Health Center collected 300 book bags filled with back-to-school supplies for children in the Beacon public school system, all donated by staff. They also teamed up with the Beacon Police Department to install 300 donated car seats for patients in need. October saw two free coat giveaway events for community members, and in November staff pulled together to donate food for a number of Thanksgiving baskets. An additional food drive for Beacon patients will be taking place later in December as well as a community holiday party thrown jointly with Dutchess County Healthy Families, including a visit from Santa himself.
“Our wonderful team in Beacon has done so much this year,” said Phyllis Smith, LPN, Prenatal Case Manager at the HRHCare Health Center at Beacon. “Everything we’ve done has been for the benefit of our community, especially our patients in need.”
