HRHCare AmeriCorps Receives Orange County Human Rights Award

JohnSandStashGCongratulations to HRHCare Community HealthCorps member John Sheridan on his Orange County Human Rights Award! These awards are given annually to individuals or groups that have made a significant contribution toward the advancement of human rights and the elimination of discrimination in Orange County, NY.

A lifelong resident of Florida, NY, John was recognized for his outstanding work at the HRHCare Alamo Farmworker Community Center and Health Center at Goshen of linking community members to much needed health care and other services. “His work encourages everyone he meets to be active, equal and valuable community members,” said Stash Grajewski, Director of the HRHCare Alamo Farmworker Community Center. “Most indicative of his altruism is his plan to attend medical school so that he may continue to provide disenfranchised populations with access to quality health care with dignity, free of discrimination.”

“It’s an honor to receive this award and I’m lucky to live in a community that fosters such service,” said John. “It’s amazing how much the Alamo does on a day-to-day basis and I’m glad to be a part of it.

John, along with the other recipients of this year’s Orange County Human Rights Awards, will be honored at the Human Rights Commission’s 21st Annual Awards Dinner at the Fountains of Wallkill in Middletown, NY, on April 21st.
