Hudson River HealthCare Named Healthcare Hero on Long Island

Peekskill, NY – Hudson River HealthCare (HRHCare), a not-for-profit, federally qualified health care system offering a range of medical services at its facilities throughout New York State, announced today that its Elsie Owens Health Center, located in Coram, New York, has been recognized by Long Island Business News as a Health Care Hero on Long Island. The HRHCare Elsie Owens Health Center was the only health center chosen in the Health Care Facility category to be honored at the Long Island Business News’ annual Health Care Heroes award ceremony.

“Our goal is to provide local communities with affordable, high-quality health care, and it is an incredible honor to be recognized by Long Island Business News as we work diligently to make that a reality,” said Anne Kauffman, MPH, President and CEO of HRHCare. “We are proud of the work we do at the Elsie Owens Health Center as well as at our other 23 facilities located throughout New York State. We look forward to continuing to provide vital, affordable health care services and information to our communities.”

Long Island Business News’ Health Care Heroes Awards recognizes the men, women and organizations in the health care industry that provide exceptional and innovative health care services to ensure the well-being of everyone on Long Island.

The Elsie Owens Health Center is located on 82 Middle Country Road in Coram, New York, and offers several affordable health services including dentistry, pediatrics, vaccinations and family medicine, as well as several wellness programs including intensive health education courses.

HRHCare is currently expanding its presence on Long Island with the recent groundbreaking of the Kraus Family Health Center of the Hamptons at Southampton Hospital on October 3, 2013. The new, 9,000 square-foot facility, which is expected to be fully operational in early 2014, will feature family medicine, women’s health services and dentistry among other essential health offerings. The health center will also serve as a family residency program, which is a unique collaborative effort between HRHCare, Southampton Hospital and Stony Brook University Medical Center.
