HRHCare Project Manager and Operations Facilitator David Erickson Presented with Geiger Gibson Emerging Leader Award

David EricksonPeekskill, NY – HRHCare Community Health, is pleased to announce that Project Manager and Operations Facilitator David Erickson, M.A., M.S., M.Phil., has been recognized as a Geiger Gibson Emerging Leader at the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Policy and Issues Forum on March 19th in Washington, D.C. Each year the Geiger Gibson Program in Community Health Policy in the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University honors young professionals currently working in public health who exemplify the mission and vision of pioneers of community health and human rights: Drs. H. Jack Geiger and Count Gibson.

“It is difficult to fully express the breadth and significance of David’s contributions over his years with HRHCare as they span such a broad range of tasks, consonant with his many skills and talents,” said Anne Kauffman Nolon, MPH, President and CEO of HRHCare. “He demonstrates exceptional leadership qualities and is truly deserving of this prestigious Geiger Gibson Emerging Leader Award.”

Beginning his career with HRHCare as an AmeriCorps in 2003, David Erickson quickly began coordinating outreach to the Spanish-speaking day laborers in the City of Peekskill, New York, and developing health education materials. After exposure to the Mexican health care model known as Casa de Salud, he went on to create a strategic plan for HRHCare to expand health outreach programs throughout the Hudson Valley and later assumed the role of Manager of Migrant Health Promotion. He has continued to play a vital role in helping HRHCare as it has grown, from a network of 11 Health Centers when he began in 2003 to 26 in 2016, through grant writing, managing several capital projects, and leading other important initiatives; including a 2015 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Site Operational Visit resulting in an unprecedented score of 100%.

In addition to his work with HRHCare, Mr. Erickson conducted research at Columbia University on antiretroviral drug adherence among people living with HIV/AIDS and served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the University’s Department of Sociomedical Sciences.  He is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in Sociomedical Sciences at Columbia University.
